Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Alliance Resource Group is partnered with a fast-growing specialty construction contractor.  The Accounting Manager will be responsible for corporate accounting, financial reporting, AP/AR, and payroll. You will own the close process, prepare GAAP-compliant statements, oversee certified-payroll compliance, and assist in modernizing the link between the company’s accounting platform and it's in house project-management system.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee all GL, AP, AR, and cash-management activity; ensure GAAP compliance.
  • Drive timely monthly / quarterly closes, reconciliations, and financial-statement preparation.
  • Monitor cash-flow forecasts and borrowing-base needs; advise leadership on liquidity.
  • Coordinate annual external review and bonding audits; supply schedules as requested.
  • Lead budget compilation and variance analysis; recommend cost-control actions.
Team Leadership & Payroll
  • Supervise AP, AR, and Payroll Compliance staff; coach for growth.
  • Oversee certified-payroll reporting for prevailing-wage projects; ensure labor-agreement compliance.
  • Run non-union corporate payroll via a third-party HR platform; review tax filings and benefit deductions.
Process Improvement & Systems
  • Enhance reporting visibility across key business areas.
  • Automate routine accounting workflows; strengthen internal controls and approval matrices.
  • Lead ad-hoc projects (cash-flow dashboard, ERP integrations, payroll-process streamlining).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA / CMA preferred.
  • 5+ years corporate-accounting experience, including staff supervision.
  • Working knowledge of certified-payroll rules and industry compliance is preferred.
  • Track record of improving systems/processes and mentoring small teams.
  • Strong communicator able to bridge accounting, operations, and IT.
