Job Description

Position Title: Corporate Controller
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports To: VP of Accounting and Administration / CFO
Location: Remote (West Coast)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $130,000 - $145,000
Position Summary
A fast-growing, private equity-backed, multi-location services organization is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Controller to lead the accounting function. The company generates $100M+ in annual revenue and operates across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will bring deep services-industry experience, a strong audit background, and a proven ability to scale accounting operations. This role is well-suited for a leader who has built internal controls and materially improved the speed and accuracy of the financial close process.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead accounting operations including general ledger, revenue recognition, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and intercompany transactions
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple locations/service lines, with emphasis on improving close speed and accuracy
  • Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts and ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled timely
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance frameworks to support a scalable, audit-ready environment
  • Standardize and optimize the accounts receivable process across all operating locations
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Oversee external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings
  • Support M&A activity (e.g., due diligence support, integration planning, purchase accounting)
  • Optimize ERP systems and related financial technologies to support scalability
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing accounting team
  • Partner with FP&A and operational leaders on monthly reporting, budgeting, and forecasting questions
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience in a private equity-backed services organization with $100M+ in revenue
  • Strong audit background (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred)
  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing internal control frameworks in a distributed/multi-site environment
  • Proven track record improving the financial close calendar and reducing close cycle times
  • Expertise in multi-entity consolidation, intercompany accounting, and services-based revenue recognition (including percentage-of-completion where applicable)
  • ERP experience (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or comparable platform)
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and deadline management skills
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 and other services-related accounting standards
  • Experience implementing process improvements that reduce close time without weakening controls
  • M&A integration and purchase accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
