Job Description
Essential Functions: The major areas of responsibility include: Â
Â
•   Complete month-end, quarter end and year-end financial statements and other reporting items accurately and timely.  Managing from start to finish month end close responsibilities assigned to the candidate along with reviewing of staff work. Â
•   Prepare period-end financials included but not limited to Balance Sheet and Income Statements, in accordance to GAAPÂ
•   Review and prepare monthly closing journal entries and maintain reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accountsÂ
•   Manage monthly reconciliation schedules, such as, but not limited to prepaids, fixed assets and accrued liabilities ledgersÂ
•   Perform various analysis on specific General Ledger accounts, budget to actual reports, or reforecast to actual reports.Â
•   Assist in gathering and compile the information for the annual and quarterly budget and reforecasts, respectivelyÂ
•   Assist in preparing and managing all requirements for quarterly and annual budgets and reforecastsÂ
•   Prepare support schedules related annual financial statement review, taxes and other auditsÂ
•   Involved with the management of Finance volunteers as part of the requirements at the convention(s)Â
•   Managing the recruiting and training of volunteersÂ
•   Preparing and record financial transactions during the convention(s)Â
•   Assess internal controls and make recommendations where appropriateÂ
•   Ensure compliance through submissions and adhering to filing deadlines for sales tax, 1099’s, tax return, etc.Â
while enforcing timely and accurate collection of Form W9s and W8s.Â
•   Protect organization’s value and certain payable information by keeping information confidentialÂ
•   Updates job knowledge by seeking and participating in educational opportunities.Â
•   The Accounting Supervisor assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor, Senior VP of Accounting & Finance.Â
•   The Accounting Supervisor assumes other duties as assigned by management from time to time.Â

•   Proficient knowledge of Excel is required, and QuickBooks is preferred.Â
•   Must be able to perform required tasks at offsite convention(s), away from the SPJA office. Â
•   Must be able to work with volunteers, staff, and vendors at convention and at other facilitiesÂ
 Education/Experience: Undergraduate degree with 5+ years of relevant experience. CPA is not required, but a plus. Direct supervision or management of team members is required.Â
