Job Description


Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Assist in overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the accounting team.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities.
  • Assist with consolidations and intercompany accounting where applicable.

 

Real Estate Accounting
  • Oversee accounting for a diversified real estate portfolio, including commercial, retail, office, industrial, or multifamily assets.
  • Monitor capital expenditures, development projects, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with lender reporting requirements and ownership reporting packages.

 

Leadership & Operations
  • Mentor, develop, and supervise members of the accounting team while fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Assist with establishing and improving accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Drive process improvements and help identify opportunities to streamline workflows through technology and automation.
  • Serve as a key resource for cross-functional teams, including Operations, Asset Management, and Finance.

 

Compliance & Audit
  • Coordinate annual financial statement audits and work closely with external auditors.
  • Assist with tax reporting by partnering with outside tax advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Prior real estate industry experience required, including property accounting and multi-entity reporting.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with real estate accounting software and large ERP systems (Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across multiple departments.
