Job Description
We have been retained by a fast growing, highly respected Asian specialty retailer ($1 billion + in revenue) in their search for a Business Finance Planner. The organization is well capitalized, highly profitable, and growing rapidly. The executive management team is dynamic and looking for an additional like-minded, talented financial associate to help take the company to the next level.
This position is a brand new, high profile position and will work intimately with the CFO, Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, and FP&A.
Job Summary:
The Business Finance Planner will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing monthly operational forecasts. The role will also be responsible for reconciling forecast gaps, identifying trends, monitoring historical sales data and supporting strategic level planning. The position will work closely with merchandising to analyze the effects of promotions and pricing on gross margin and cash flow. Position will report directly to the Operations Controller but will work intimately with Financial Planning and Analysis group.
Job Description
- Drive the business finance planning through data analysis and daily engagement with category managers
- Provide the financial analysis to support business decisions such as new product launches, promotional plans, etc
- Analyze SKU level and sales channel level trends using inputs such as historical sales data and promotional activity to create, optimize, and dynamically maintain SKU level forecasts based on statistical modeling
- Lead the process for developing & iterating forecasts for new items, utilizing historical sales, merchandise team inputs, and financial revenue forecasts while fostering strong collaboration with relevant teams and stakeholders
- Perform variance analysis to identify root causes of under-performing businesses
- Translate the business plan into usable financial and cash flow analysis
- Measure forecasting errors using KPIs and variance reporting and perform root cause analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or Equivalent is required
- Five + years of experience in retail or consumer packaged goods experience is highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience working with and managing large databases/large datasets
- Strong financial modeling skills
- Advanced skill in using Excel is a must. Data base and SAP experience is a strong plus
- Solid understanding of inventory management best practices and procedures
- Ability to effectively analyze data, identify issues and generate solutions
- Ability to take initiative, set priorities and take ownership of assigned projects
- Ability to work with personnel at all organizational levels
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Capability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual in Mandarin is a plus
