Our client is a privately held, middle market, global consumer goods manufacturing company. We have been retained in their search for their Chief Financial Officer, reporting directly to the CEO. The company is highly successful and profitable with more than 2,000 employees worldwide. The company is about to embark on several exciting initiatives that will help support their growth trajectory. The Chief Financial Officer will join the talented executive team and be an integral player in taking the company to the next level.
The right candidate currently holds the title of Chief Financial Officer, will have global manufacturing experience, and demonstrated strong leadership skills.
Objective
The CFO will work closely with the CEO/Chairman and President in the development and execution of the company’s global vision, corporate strategy and operating plans to achieve annual shareholder expectations and drive company shareholder value. He/she will be responsible for developing and leading a strong team of professionals.
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Chairman of the Board (COB), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will build and lead several of the company’s corporate staff functions including finance, accounting, treasury, tax, and risk management/liability. The CFO is ultimately responsible for the completeness and timeliness of the organization’s financial goals and objectives, the budget, and financial plan. The CFO has responsibility for ensuring internal controls are in place, enforced and reviewed periodically for conformance to accounting and financial standards and applicable regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction and integration of global staff to support the organization in the development and execution of the vision, corporate strategy and business operating plans.
- Build and lead a global finance/accounting, and risk management organization developing core capabilities in enabling an operationally excellent organization developing into an innovation-oriented technology company.
- Enhance financial operations processes and systems to provide standardized methods globally for full integration and simplification of financial reporting.
- Develop and implement financial reporting and analytical tools to accelerate cross-functional decision-making and improve performance measures.
- Identify, analyze and measure company value drivers including its sources of growth, operational costs, inventory turns, margin advantages and return on invested capital (ROIC) – evaluating the business from an investor’s perspective - to build and sustain company leadership position and drive shareholder value.
- Direct and lead capacity planning, forecasting and inventory management. Assure company inventory turn targets are achieved and vendor/supplier inventory is managed and controlled at sufficient inventory levels.
- Lead and link company performance to financial incentives. Help develop bonus programs that create a culture of performance and accountability.
Operational
- Coordinate and manage global banking relationships to ensure appropriate credit facilities are in place to support the Company shorter term and strategic goals.
- Ensure that all necessary controls are in place so the company's assets are protected and its operations are efficient and effective.
- Conduct analyses and prepare pro forma financial reports for new products and capital projects.
- Coordinate and approve with the assistance of outside risk consultants an insurance plan that adequately covers risks.
- Ensure that all controls are functioning to protect and meet the objectives of retirement and savings plans.
- Coordinate all activities that promote positive cash management, i.e., DSO, Inventory turns, budget controls, foreign currency review and tax management.
- Plan, coordinate and resolve issues associated with the annual audit of the company's records by outside certified public accountants (both corporate financials and benefit plans).
- Collaborate with other executives to establish financial, productivity and performance measures for annual and 3-year operating plans. Roll-up and integrate global operations budgets, targets.

Board & Partner Level
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to include appropriate reporting metrics are established to meet company goals.
- Lead and provide regular, accurate financial reports of the company's performance as requested by the President, Chairman/CEO or Board of Directors.
- Analyze financial statements and prepare reports and recommendations for President, Chairman/CEO and Board of Directors.
Education, Skills and Experience
The CFO position requires a “hands-on” track record of leadership, team-building and cross-functional collaboration. The position requires the ability to think and plan globally, but execute locally – leading a high-performing corporate staff to support global channel marketing and operational initiatives. Position requires energy and urgency as a culture creator and catalyst for change – setting the pace for global integration. A track-record of forging working relationships based on trust and respect is essential.
- Minimum 15 years of leading a global financial organization. Direct experience leading corporate staff functions across multiple facilities with multi-national work forces.
- BA in Accounting/Finance or related degree and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) desired.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation desired.
- Career track-record of building high performing teams and developing people into leaders. Collaboration and cross-functional teamwork a must.
- Previous company experience developing and executing an operationally excellent strategy and organization. Ability to evaluate, integrate and assimilate acquisitions
- Proven track-record of innovative thinking and execution in finance, and accounting driving continuous improvement programs. Apply benchmarks and best practices of high-performing companies.
- Proven leadership and discipline linking company performance to financial incentives that create a culture of performance and accountability.
- Track-record of creating and presenting to Board of Directors, customers and partners. Ability to take complex and detailed strategies, initiatives or projects and summarize at the executive-level succinctly with clarity.
- Demonstrated senior finance experience in privately held, family owned and operated global businesses.
