Our CLIENT, Inc. is a growing, fast-paced, forward thinking real estate company based in Beverly Hills that is looking for an experienced Corporate Controller to manage all required financial services and internal accounting department. He/she will be directly responsible for maintaining all financial reporting, as well as best accounting practices associated with A/P, A/R, payroll, cash management, forecasting, financial reporting, etc. The Corporate Controller will work closely with the Owners of the Company and VPs where he/she will assist with long-term strategic decisions and provide input on day-to-day decisions of the business.

Accounting & Reporting
  • Oversee the monthly close and reconciliation processes
  • Issue timely, complete and accurate financial statements for internal users and external investors
  • Assist with managing the cash flow of our business
  • Manage the production of the annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and cash projections
  • Monthly balance sheet & budget variances to management
    • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in timely manner
    • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
    • Liaison to external investor-partners and associated parties
    • Oversee the lender draw process as related to development operations
    • Oversee lender reporting and other lender-required reporting as needed
    • Maintain a monthly accounting calendar and system of controls over the accounting function
    • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for annual review
    • Assist Executives in all finance-related activities
    • Ensure compliance with JV agreements with respect to financial reporting, capital accounts maintenance, cash flow and budget management, etc.
      • Oversee the preparation of annual tax returns and work closely with external CPA firms
      • Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Finance, Strategy & Management
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for risk assessment and real estate development feasibility studies
  • Assist in benchmarking to measure the performance of company operations and implement process improvements
    • Participate in leadership team short and long term strategic planning
    • Manage, coach, train and motivate the current team of accountants and managers
    • Employ cost reduction measures to maintain favorable to forecast
    • Improving accounting processes: Billing, AP/AR, and Month End Closing

  • Bachelor’ s degree in accounting business administration
  • Prefer minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience for a major real estate company or division of a large real estate corporation
    • Proven track record in coaching team members and implementing process improvements
    • Knowledge of the real estate development process and job cost accounting required
    • Partnership/investment accounting experience required
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Must be obsessed with the general ledger, timely recording of financial events, and the consistent production and delivery of accurate financial statements
      • Must be extremely well organized and able to meet time sensitive deadlines
      • Must have the experience and ability to manage a minimum of 3 direct reports
      • Must be intimately familiar with GAAP standards
      • CPA or Masters in Accounting preferred
      • Experience with waterfall modeling and IRR calculations a big plus
      • Yardi, Timberline experience a plus
