Job Description

Position: Director of Finance     Our client is a consulting business located in Southern Orange County.    The company has been in business for over 45 years and is profitable and stable. 
  POSITION SUMMARY & REQUIREMENTS
Essential Job Function:
Specific duties and responsibilities at the onset of the employment tenure include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Perform the monthly closing and prepare financial statements.
  • Make journal entries as appropriate to maintain the accuracy of the general ledger including accruals and prepaids.
  • Prepare a monthly closing schedule and post monthly closing journal entries.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll for submission to ADP and prepare and post journal entries.
  • Prepare a variety of account analyses related to hours and costs of consultants and other financial issues.
  • Oversee the preparation and recording billings to the company’s clients.
  • Maintain the accounts receivable sub ledger and post cash receipts.
  • Oversee the collection activities in concert with other office personnel as required.
  • Process vendor payments and related cash disbursements.
Additional Responsibilities Transition
  • Financial reporting which includes monthly reports to management.
  • Financial planning and budgeting.
  • Monthly financial latest views and preparation of full year performance estimates for income tax estimate purposes.
  • Human resources activities as assigned by management.
  • Administration of the 401(k) and interface with the provider.
  • Direct interface with the company’s tax accountants.
  • Oversee the accounting and administration activities of the company.
  • Assess systems requirements and oversee implementation as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Ten to fifteen years progressive experience in an accounting department preferably in a small, hands on accounting organization ultimately having controllership responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Must be a strong manager, a team player and highly motivated to produce work on time.
  • Strong account reconciliation skills.
  • Must be used to working under reasonable deadlines.
