We have partnered with a fast growing software company that is looking for a talented accounting executive to join their team as their Corporate Controller.  The position will report to a highly competent and dynamic CFO and will manage the accounting team  This leadership position is responsible for taking a hands-on role in overseeing all aspects of accounting operations including close cycles, financial reporting, internal controls and policy development as well as systems implementation.  

 

Essential Functions
  • Establish accounting practices, policies and controls that drive process improvement and facilitate scale across the organization
  • Stay ahead of new technical accounting developments and recommend appropriate actions that maximize the company' s  financial objectives and ensure compliance with US GAAP
  • Mentor and develop a best in class Accounting team

Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of accounting operations: AP, AR, GL, cash management, payroll, revenue recognition, financial reporting, etc.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of month-end and year-end close, coordinate and assign duties to the accounting staff as needed. Ensure the quality and integrity of financial statements
  • Maintain cash forecast and other treasury functions
  • Review (and prepare when needed) journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and internal control work
  • Guide financial decisions by designing and monitoring appropriate policies and procedures
  • Lead the adoption and implementation of ASC 606 and other new accounting standards
  • Identify and implement scalable process improvements. Introduce technology solutions that enable efficiency, scale and/or transparency
  • Drive the annual financial auditing process, build strong auditor relationships, and partner internally to support operational and compliance programs
  • Manage other technical accounting, cross-functional and accounting projects as-needed
  • Professionally develop a team of 3 employees; actively participate in building a culture that is customer-focused

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’ s and/or Master’ s degree in Accounting.    CPA required  
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting management experience, including several years in public accounting
  • Track record of building and developing a high-performance accounting team
  • Industry experience working in fast growing, small to mid-sized technology and/or software (especially Software as a Service (SaaS)) companies highly desired
  • Prior exposure to M&A, Private Equity, and new revenue recognition standards a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems
  • Expertise in GAAP and technical accounting rules  
  • Ability to problem solve, work independently and multi-task in fast-paced environments
  • Exceptional project and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Keen attention to detail and accuracy
