Corporate Controller - $1 Billion+ privately held company, ON SITE up to $250k plus bonus - must speak Mandarin

Our client is one of the largest and most respected specialty retailers in the US.  Due to growth, they are looking for a Corporate Controller to report directly to the CFO.

The company spans more than four decades and has built a very loyal clientele in retail, wholesale and e-commerce. 

The organization continues its growth strategy, and expansion is a top priority.  The Corporate Controller positon is instrumental in helping to build a strong financial infrastructure to support this continued growth.
  POSITION SUMMARY & REQUIREMENTS
The Corporate Controller is a key financial leader and a close partner to the CFO, responsible for the oversight of the company’s accounting, reporting, tax, asset management, real estate finance, and A/P and A/R.  The Corporate Controller establishes efficiency in the accounting processes across the organization and delivers consistent, accurate financial information. 

Job Description
 
  • Responsible for timely, accurate and efficient accounting close on a periodical basis
  • Will have three direct reports, ~30 indirect, and ~10 overseas
  • Manages accounting operations, in leading the teams of AR & Credit control, AP & Expense control, GL & Reporting's team 
  • Support the tax process including preparing support for the third party tax professionals, preparing year end tax entries, and working with outside consultants on long term tax strategies for the organization
  • Manage the preparation and reporting, of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial information
  • Oversee all asset management including real estate, fixed assets and corresponding depreciation schedules
  • Develops, maintains and enhances accounting and finance policies, processes and procedures to comply with US GAAP
  • Serve as a key interface with external auditors, as well as keep abreast of changes in accounting and auditing standards.  Develop implementation plans to adopt new standards and work with CFO to ensure successful implementation
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and accounting consultant and prepare financial analyses and studies as required to support decision making of senior management
  • Collaborate with other corporate finance groups to ensure consistency in guidance and thorough understanding of financial issues.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting process
  • Co-lead the financial and accounting planning process
  • Manage and mentor accounting team to greater levels of business engagement and professionalism

Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent is required
  • CPA license highly preferred
  • Conversational Mandarin to expert speaker highly preferred
  • Fifteen to twenty + years of progressive accounting experience working within a large company environment
  • Experience in public accounting highly preferred
  • Experience with change management and navigating growth and innovation within organizations
  • Minimum of five years of management/leadership experience with demonstrated ability to build and lead teams
  • Technical accounting experience – strong understanding of GAAP and ability to research and implement new accounting guidance
  • Experience working with large ERP systems – preferably SAP.  Strong Excel required
  • Solid executive presence, strong work ethic and impeccable communication skills
  • Ability to work onsite five days a week
