Job Description

Essentials Duties:
 
  • Manages daily staff activities, including determining specific work assignments; and monitoring individual staff productivity
  • Instill a culture of accountability
  • Review various projects performed by the Accountants to ensure priorities and appropriate procedures are being maintained
  • Assist in developing plans, priorities, and work assignments to achieve department goals
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close and financial reporting
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger including but not limited to closing process and review of monthly financial statements and analyze for completeness and accuracy
  • Review supporting schedules and analyses of general ledger accounts for monthly and year-end closing
  • Collaborate with Controller or designee on year end close adjustments to ensure all items are captured accurately and timely
  • Establish a month end close calendar and ensure that deadlines are met
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
  • Manage and recommends the implementation of policies and procedures for the general ledger to ensure established accounting policies and procedures are met
  • Work closely with Controller in communicating and assessing productivity and results for the department
  • Trains staff on policies and procedures related to Accounting function
  • Ensure supporting documents related to audit, review and tax engagements are provided promptly
  • Provide supporting documents to external auditors and tax firms
  • Provide performance metric to evaluate each staff on a quarterly basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • At least 3 years manager level experience (Skilled Nursing Industry preferred)
  • Experience working with multiple entities is a plus (20+)
  • Must have a solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality
  • Must have strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, strong time management skills, great attention to detail and work well under tight deadlines
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of employees, management, and business partners
  • Knowledge of Point Click Care (billing software), UKG (payroll software), DSSI (Procurement to Pay system) and Great Plains (accounting software) a plus
