Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead client engagements, manage staff, and provide strategic tax planning and compliance services. The ideal candidate will be a licensed CPA with strong client-facing skills, significant public accounting experience, and the ability to operate with a high degree of independence.
This role is well-suited for someone who thrives in a boutique firm setting, where initiative, client service, and leadership are key to success.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and estates.
Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients—building relationships, advising on tax strategies, and addressing inquiries promptly and professionally.
Deliver high-level tax planning and consulting services tailored to each client's financial goals.
Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior staff and senior associates, providing training and performance feedback.
Ensure all engagements are delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with current tax laws and firm standards.
Conduct research and provide guidance on complex tax issues, transactions, and changing legislation.
Identify process improvements and contribute to the firm’s growth and best practices.
Participate in business development efforts, including referrals, client retention strategies, and prospective client meetings.

Qualifications

Active CPA license (required)
Minimum 6 years of recent experience in public accounting with a strong emphasis on tax
Demonstrated success managing tax engagements and client relationships independently
Strong technical expertise in individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary taxation
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client-first approach
Proven leadership and team management capabilities
Proficiency in QuickBooks, Lacerte, and other tax/accounting software
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight
High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
