The Sr. Accountant for Fixed Assets is responsible for managing, tracking, capitalizing, and depreciating the Company’ s Fixed Assets. In this role the Fixed Asset Accountant will review capital and operating expenditures, determine whether they qualify to be capitalized, book the appropriate entries, record depreciation, book all capital asset transfer and disposal activity, and reconcile the to the general ledger accounts and financial statements to ensure all entries are properly recorded. This position works with internal stakeholders to conduct an annual inventory of capital assets across all operational and organizational units of the Company.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain all supporting schedules, including fixed asset roll forwards, fixed asset additions and disposals, depreciation expense, construction in progress, capex forecasting and reconciliation with general ledger
  • Participate in research of technical issues and documentation of findings in relation to capital assets
  • Serve as liaison between department managers and the Finance department regarding current and future capital and maintenance projects and expenditures
  • Participate in month end close process including preparation and recording of adjusting journal entries for fixed assets
  • Collaborate across functional groups within the organization to ensure successful transition and set up of new assets and ongoing lease administration
  • Update and monitor accounting policies related to asset management
  • Review capital requests and invoices for capital spending
  • Assist in the quarterly analysis to establish valuation reserves for fixed assets
  • Coordinate work relating to both internal and external audits for the fixed asset area
  • Coordinate filing and payment of property taxes with outside service provider
  • Perform periodic analysis to determine assets to be retired
  • Work with other finance members to establish accounting processes to capitalize labor related to internally constructed fixed assets
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and assist in the documentation and evaluation of financial and business processes in support of the Company’ s SOX requirements
  • Work on special assignments as they arise

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of capitalization of assets and US GAAP
  • Fixed Asset experience strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
