Job Description

Role: Tax Manager
Location: Torrance, CA

Responsibilities
  • Manage and review complex federal and multi-state tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, S corporations, corporations, trusts and closely held businesses.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and providing proactive tax guidance throughout the year.
  • Manage multiple client engagements, deadlines and deliverables while ensuring a high level of accuracy and client service.
  • Set clear expectations for Tax Staff and Seniors before work begins and monitor progress continuously.
  • Participate in client billing and collections as directed by Senior Manager or Partner.
  • Contribute to formal performance reviews for Tax Staff and Seniors.
  • Perform final review of outsourced and AI-assisted prepared returns before Partner sign-off.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax, including at least 2 years in a Senior or equivalent role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Advanced degree (MST or MBA with tax focus) preferred but not required.
  • CPA preferred
  • Ability and willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what is needed to meet client deadlines and expectations
  • Team player and can collaborate with other individuals in the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel)
  • QuickBooks and CCH experience (or similar accounting/tax software equivalent)
