Job Description


The Technical Accounting Manager will play a key role in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role will be responsible for overseeing GAAP accounting analysis and disclosure to support public company reporting requirements. Other responsibilities include reviewing transactions for appropriate classification, executing internal controls, drafting technical accounting and policy documents, and assisting with the preparation of financial statements, including 10-Q and 10-K filings. The ability to manage and deliver on key accounting close and SEC reporting milestones will be a critical success factor. This position requires significant interaction with executive management, external advisors, legal teams, and auditors.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Provide expertise on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, equity administration, and financial instruments.

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and enhance internal processes.

  • Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and standards, analyze their impact, and propose adoption timelines.

  • Train staff on technical accounting matters and best practices.

  • Liaise with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Work closely with various departments, including finance, operations, and engineering, to ensure proper implementation of accounting policies.

  • Support SOX 404B compliance efforts and internal control execution.

  • Assist with month-end close and consolidation procedures focused on complex areas.

  • Ensure accurate and timely consolidations and reporting structures.

  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial disclosures, ensuring compliance with SEC and GAAP requirements.

  • Coordinate audit testing procedures and ensure efficient compliance with reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.

  • Five to seven years of relevant experience, including recent public accounting experience with SEC registrants.

  • Strong familiarity with ASC literature and technical accounting research.

  • Proven project management experience.

  • Active CPA license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Big 4 audit experience is highly preferred.

  • Master’s degree in accounting is a plus.

  • Experience in a fast-growing startup or public company environment.

  • Preferred remote locations: U.S. Mountain or Central time zones.
