We are actively looking for their Vice President of Accounting and Finance for the organization's REIT. This position will manage several direct and direct reports and will report directly to the CFO. This position will be responsible for the oversight of all accounting, internal reporting, and external audit.
Job Summary:
Responsible for complex accounting and/or clerical duties of a broad nature in support of accounting functions. Reviewing monthly/quarterly financial statements in accordance with GAAP with all supporting documentation. Responding to any inquiries received from management, acquisitions, asset management and external auditors. Leading and interacting with a team of professional associates.
Essential Job Duties
- Oversee fund accounting / reporting, construction and corporate accounting
- Work with auditors in their review of the financial statements
- Perform the quarter-end consolidation, and prepare the statement of cash flows, EPS calculation, and equity statement needed for investment reporting
- Review and analyze property level reporting packages
- Continuously update the model/forecast/budget which is used and reviewed by various senior management, lenders, the board of directors, broker dealers and due diligence firms
- Prepare and analyze account reconciliations
- Calculate asset management fees
- Prepare journal entries with supporting backup for the corporate entities
- Prepare debt covenants
- Update policies and procedures
- Prepare technical GAAP Accounting memos
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and other special projects, including developing policies and procedures
- Work with lenders and banks to handle debt and cash management issues
- Coordinate various property audits
- Interact with valuation specialists and review ASC 805, Business Combination, reports
- Administrator for Yardi
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury and general ledger.
- Review and approves invoices/wires based on the approval matrix
Skills, Education and Experience
- BS and/or MS degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA with 4+ years experience in public accounting preferred
- 4+ years recent experience at the Controller level supporting commercial or residential portfolios
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and fund reporting
- Excellent accounting, financial reporting, and written and verbal communication skills
- Managerial experience leading large teams
- Self-starter with strong planning and time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Excellent follow-thru skills
- Proficient in Yardi or MRI plus Microsoft Office products
- Real estate experience is required

Born in Hollywood and raised in Los Angeles, Kyle was destined to be a star. When that did not work out, he did the next best thing and became a recruiter. After graduating from California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in finance, Kyle began his professional career working in accounting as an Assistant Controller and Controller for several companies in the surf industry. After a number of years working in accounting, he became an entrepreneur and developed two successful coffee-house locations in Orange County where he was the CFO (and head barista).
In 2003 Kyle again shifted his career and became a financial recruiter in the Bay area with a large national staffing company where he was responsible for building successful recruiting teams. Kyle joined Alliance Resource Group in 2009 as a Recruiting Manager.
Kyle is a proud parent of two girls, Maya and Sage, whom are attending college in San Francisco, CA and Paris, France. In his spare time, Kyle loves to fire up the BBQ after a good surf session.
