Job Description

VP of Finance
Role overview

We are seeking an operationally focused finance executive to support our client's Texas business and help build the finance capabilities of its Dallas Service Center. This is a newly established regional leadership role.

The immediate mandate is to become the person market leaders turn to for financial guidance, business analysis, and decision support.

The position will partner closely with the operational controller, who focuses on the close, general ledger, accounting execution, and development of the accounting team. The VP’s emphasis will be forward-looking finance, operational performance, reimbursement economics, acquisition modeling, and expansion into new markets. Technical accounting credibility remains important.

Key responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with Texas market presidents and facility leaders through facility visits, market meetings, and practical financial support.
  • Lead forecasting, planning, and operational analysis; translate financial information into recommendations operators can act on.
  • Develop a working command of state reimbursement structures, rate dynamics, and industry associations.
  • Support acquisition evaluation, financial modeling, and strategic growth decisions.
  • Help assess and support entry into additional states as the organization expands east.
  • Partner with the controller and CAO on complex financial and technical accounting matters, with specific ownership boundaries to be clarified.
  • Develop relationships with hospital district partners, associations, and other external stakeholders.
  • Help build the Dallas finance function and develop team capabilities as the Service Center grows.
  • Operate effectively within Ensign’s entrepreneurial environment and demonstrate its CAPLICO values through day-to-day leadership.
First-year priorities
  1. Earn the field’s trust: Become a primary finance resource for Texas operational leaders, taking on matters currently escalated to central leadership.
  2. Understand reimbursement economics: Learn the state’s rate environment, relevant programs, and association relationships sufficiently to guide business decisions.
  3. Build forward-looking support: Strengthen forecasting, acquisition analysis, and financial support for growth.
Position Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including senior-level operational finance responsibilities.
  • Public accounting experience combined with healthcare or multi-site operational finance experience, strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and healthcare finance operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with operational leaders and executive teams.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to communicate financial concepts clearly and influence decision-making.
  • Experience building relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, consultants, auditors, and hospital partners preferred.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and operational problem-solving capabilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; Workday Financials experience preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and growth-oriented environment
